A heater this size can usually run off a normal household supply, but it pulls a lot of power, so your fusebox needs to have room for it. Your electrician will tell you in five minutes whether yours does. Whichever heater you pick, check what it needs before you buy.

A wood stove needs no electrics at all, but it does get extremely hot. It has to sit a set distance from the timber walls and benches, usually with a heat shield behind it, and something fireproof underneath in case an ember drops out. The stove instructions give you the exact distances. The walls are 42mm solid timber with no insulation layer, so it takes a bit longer to warm up and uses a bit more wood than an insulated one.

The chimney runs up and out through the roof. The chimney goes up through the roof panel, so that hole needs cutting and sealing properly. The fire also needs air to burn, and the room needs a vent low down and another high up so fresh air comes in and damp gets out. Have a think about where the smoke will blow, in relation to your house, your neighbours and where you sit outside.

Spruce log saunas need very little upkeep, but a few habits will keep this one looking and performing well for years. After each session, leave the door and any vents open for twenty to thirty minutes so the heat room can dry out fully; trapped moisture is the main cause of mould and dark staining on timber benches and walls. Wipe down the benches with a clean, damp cloth after use, since sweat left to dry on the wood will eventually leave a residue.

Twice a year, give the interior a light sand if the wood starts to feel rough underfoot or under the hands, particularly on bench seats and backrests that take the most contact. There's no need for varnish or sealant on sauna interiors, since coated surfaces don't breathe and will hold moisture against the timber rather than letting it evaporate. The tempered glass front simply needs a normal glass cleaner; avoid anything abrasive that could scratch the surface over time.

Outside, spruce log exteriors benefit from a wood treatment or stain reapplied every two to three years depending on how exposed the sauna is to weather, with south or west facing elevations typically needing attention sooner than sheltered sides. The front room, being unheated, is more exposed to ambient humidity, so check door seals and hinges periodically and treat any exposed timber the same as the exterior. Keep the area around the base clear of leaves, grass, and standing water, which trap moisture against the lowest log courses and shorten their lifespan if left unchecked over a full season.

Production takes 7-10 weeks, plus 1-2 weeks dispatch time for haulage. Due to its size and weight, this sauna ships on an oversized pallet (typically around a tonne or more) and arrives kerbside on a flatbed truck. Because of its size and weight, this item cannot be unloaded by tail lift and unloading is not included in the price — it needs arranging in advance. Depending on your access, you have three options:

• Forklift – if there's space to move the pallet from the truck to its final position, this is the most cost-effective choice.
• HIAB – for lifting over a fence or wall near the road, a HIAB (truck-mounted crane) is a practical and affordable option.
• Crane – if the final position is far from the road and forklift access isn't possible, a crane will be needed.

Handballing is possible but requires a full team of able helpers and suitable lifting equipment at every stage, and is done at your own risk. Please have a solid, level base and clear access ready before delivery. Final positioning is not included unless you use our installation team; once unloaded, moving and positioning the goods is your responsibility.
