A suitable chimney and flue system must be installed to safely carry smoke and combustion gases outside the sauna. Where the flue passes through the roof, the correct insulated chimney components, roof flashing and heat-resistant protection should be used.

Correct ventilation is also important. A wood-fired stove requires an adequate supply of combustion air, while the sauna itself needs sufficient airflow to provide fresh air, circulate heat and allow moisture to escape.

The Deluxe Tub External pairs the same 180 centimetre diameter and 93 centimetre depth as its internal burner sibling with an externally mounted stove instead, freeing up the full internal volume of the tub for bathers rather than sharing it with a firebox taking up valuable space. Heated water is circulated from the external burner into the tub, a configuration that keeps the inside of the tub completely clear and arguably more comfortable for the full two or three person capacity it is designed for.
