Sizing is an estimate for planning. Heater room ratings are indicative — always check the manufacturer's own figures and clearance requirements, and use a qualified electrician for electrical work or a competent installer for flues.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kW sauna heater do I need per cubic metre?

Roughly 1kW per 1.25 cubic metres of hot room, rounded up to a real heater size. Then add about 12 per cent for uninsulated timber, 15 for a full glass front, 6 for outdoors.

Should I size a sauna heater by people or by volume?

Volume, always. A six-person sauna used by one person needs exactly the same heater, because you are heating the room and the stones rather than the people sitting in it.

Why are no wood-fired heaters listed for my small sauna?

Nothing is broken. The smallest wood stove is rated from about 6 cubic metres, so anything under that shows electric only. Compact saunas are usually better off electric.

Two heaters show the same kW. How do I choose between them?

Fit is settled once the kW matches, so the rest is stone mass, controls and price. More stone holds heat longer and takes water better. Controls matter if you want app start.

My sauna is not on the list. Can you size it?
