To get that properly hot you want roughly 7kW of heat, and the Harvia BC80 Electric Heater Set is the one we'd point you at. Anything between 7kW and 9kW will do the job, so it comes down to how it looks, how you control it and what you want to spend. A heater this size runs off a normal household supply, but it can't go in a plug socket. It needs its own dedicated circuit, much like an electric shower or oven. Whichever heater you pick, check what it needs before you buy.

A wood stove needs no electrics at all, but it does get extremely hot. It has to sit a set distance from the timber walls and benches, usually with a heat shield behind it, and something fireproof underneath in case an ember drops out. The stove instructions give you the exact distances. The walls are 40mm solid timber with no insulation layer, though the roof is insulated, so it uses a bit more wood than a fully insulated one.

The chimney runs up and out through the roof. The chimney goes up through the insulated roof panel, so that hole needs cutting and sealing properly. The fire also needs air to burn, and the room needs a vent low down and another high up so fresh air comes in and damp gets out. Have a think about where the smoke will blow, in relation to your house, your neighbours and where you sit outside.

The Nairn XL needs the same straightforward Thermowood care as the rest of the Nairn range, simply across more bench, more glass and a decking step. After every session, leave the door open for twenty to thirty minutes to let the heat room dry out fully, preventing mould and dark staining on timber surfaces. Wipe down the benches and backrests once cooled, and give them a light sand once or twice a year wherever hands and bare skin make the most contact.

The bronze glass door and windows need only a standard glass cleaner and soft cloth. Leave the interior timber unsealed, allowing it to breathe and absorb moisture properly during sessions.

Thermowood's natural weather resistance keeps exterior maintenance, decking included, minimal compared with standard Spruce. A light oil treatment every couple of years maintains the original colour if preferred, or allow natural weathering to a silvery grey, which requires no upkeep at all.

Deliveries are kerbside and unloaded using the vehicle's tail lift, so no machinery or extra help is needed on your side. For properties with tight or restricted access, we can arrange delivery on a smaller vehicle with the goods handballed off instead — just let us know your access situation before ordering.

Please have a solid, level base and clear access ready before delivery. Pallet deliveries are kerbside only, and once unloaded you're responsible for moving the goods onto your property. Final positioning is not included unless you use our installation team. A comprehensive assembly manual is included, and self-assembly is straightforward with basic DIY skills.
