About

A modular sauna sized for everyday use, not just occasional weekends. Howe gives 3.55m² of relaxed layout in pre assembled Spruce sections, slightly more generous than the Cube version while staying manageable for most gardens. Solid timber construction holds heat efficiently through every session. A sensible middle ground between the smallest and largest modular options, built for regular rather than occasional use. The Spruce structure is supplied with its exterior factory-finished in painted black.

Delivered flat-packed for self-assembly, with free UK mainland delivery on qualifying orders. Allow a full weekend for assembly and have at least one other capable adult available to help. Larger, heavier and multiroom models may require additional time and lifting assistance. A solid, level base and suitable delivery access are required.

For a complete setup, select Professional Installation and choose your preferred date, allowing for the stated production lead time. We’ll then arrange the installation around your requirements, including any additional preparation or works needed to accommodate your sauna where possible. Worth running our sauna build checker before delivery day, and our heater size calculator to confirm the heater this one needs.

Inside, this sauna holds about 6.6 m³ of air, about the size of a small box room. To get that properly hot you want roughly 6kW of heat, and the HUUM DROP 6kW with Wi-Fi is the one we'd point you at. Anything between 6kW and 9kW will do the job, so it comes down to how it looks, how you control it and what you want to spend. Our heater size calculator shows how we got to that and lists every heater that fits this model.

A heater this size runs off a normal household supply, but it can't go in a plug socket. It needs its own dedicated circuit, much like an electric shower or oven. Whichever heater you pick, check what it needs before you buy.

The heater gets wired straight into your electrics by a qualified electrician. Never a plug, never an extension lead. If you're near us in Leicestershire we can arrange the electrician for you for a fee, so it's all done in one go. There's more detail in our full guide to electric heater setup.

Two things worth doing before you buy: our running cost calculator tells you what a session will cost to heat, and our solar calculator works out the panels and battery you'd need if you'd rather run it from the sun.

Inside, this sauna holds about 6.6 m³ of air, about the size of a small box room. The Cozy 12 OG Wood Burning Heater is the stove we'd suggest for it, and anything from the 12kW to the 16kW will work. Our heater size calculator shows how we worked that out and what else fits.

A wood stove needs no electrics at all, but it does get extremely hot. It has to sit a set distance from the timber walls and benches, usually with a heat shield behind it, and something fireproof underneath in case an ember drops out. The stove instructions give you the exact distances. This sauna is insulated, so it holds its heat well once it's up to temperature.

The chimney runs up and out through the roof. The chimney goes up through the roof panel, so that hole needs cutting and sealing properly. The fire also needs air to burn, and the room needs a vent low down and another high up so fresh air comes in and damp gets out. Have a think about where the smoke will blow, in relation to your house, your neighbours and where you sit outside.

Before you build, run our sauna build checker. It checks your vents, bench heights, clearances and drainage in a couple of minutes and flags anything that'll cause you grief later. Our full guide to wood-fired heater setup covers the rest. It's also worth a quick check with your council, as some areas have rules about chimneys and smoke.

The Sauna Howe needs straightforward, regular care typical of any insulated modular sauna. After every session, prop the door open for twenty to thirty minutes to let the heat room dry out fully, the most effective habit for preventing mould and dark timber staining over time. Wipe benches down once cooled, and sand the interior lightly once or twice a year wherever contact is heaviest.

The glass front wall needs only a standard glass cleaner and a soft cloth, with a quick check for condensation after each session given the glazed area. The included LED lighting needs no particular maintenance beyond the occasional dust of the fittings.

Externally, treat the spruce exterior with a wood treatment every two to three years, adjusting timing for weather exposure. The compact footprint makes this a manageable job to stay on top of each cycle. Keep the base clear of leaves and standing water, checking that ground preparation continues draining properly over time, the same basic principle that applies to any outdoor timber building regardless of size or layout.

Production takes 10-12 weeks, plus 1-2 weeks dispatch time for haulage. This sauna is delivered pre-made and fully assembled, arriving kerbside on a flatbed truck. Due to its size and weight, additional charges may apply by postcode for length, weight, or restricted access, and are quoted separately.

Assembled saunas cannot be offloaded by hand or by tail lift, so machinery is required and unloading is not included in the price — it must be arranged in advance. Depending on your access, you have three options:

  • Forklift – if there's space to move the sauna from the truck to its final position, this is the most cost-effective choice.
  • HIAB – for lifting the sauna over a fence or wall near the road, a HIAB (truck-mounted crane) is a practical and affordable option.
  • Crane – if the final position is far from the road and forklift access isn't possible, a crane will be necessary.

We can help source a forklift, HIAB, or crane in your area for an additional fee — if you're unsure which suits your site, contact us before ordering and we'll advise. Please have a solid, level base and clear access ready before delivery. Final positioning is not included unless you use our installation team; once unloaded, moving and positioning the sauna is your responsibility.

Modular Garden Sauna Lumi Painted Black — lifestyle

A compact sauna with a thoughtful layout

Sauna Howe sits in the middle of the modular range at 3.55 square metres, with a 234 by 249 centimetre footprint that gives a slightly more generous layout than the Cube version while remaining a manageable size for most gardens. The same pre assembled modular construction applies, with solid spruce wall sections built and finished before they reach site for a faster overall installation than a comparable log built cabin would require.

The slightly larger footprint compared with Howe Cube allows for a more relaxed interior arrangement, useful for anyone planning to use the sauna regularly rather than occasionally, where the difference between a tight and a comfortable layout becomes more noticeable the more often the cabin actually gets used. Heat retention benefits from the solid timber construction in the same way as the rest of the modular range, so the faster build process does not come at the expense of how the sauna performs once it is up and running through a typical session.

Howe works well as a straightforward, well proportioned garden sauna for anyone who wants a quick, solid installation without sacrificing comfort for speed, landing in a sensible middle ground between the most compact and the largest modular options available. It is the size many households settle on once they have thought through how they actually intend to use a sauna, rather than simply choosing the smallest or largest number on a spec sheet. The Spruce structure is supplied with its exterior factory-finished in painted black.
