Sauna Eero pairs a dedicated sauna room with practical changing and circulation space in a substantial rectangular log cabin, entered under a sheltered overhang. External footprint 224x367cm (8.2m²) with 70mm walls, 240cm wall height and a contemporary flat roof at 260cm overall. Outside door 80x201cm, an internal bronze glass sauna door at 70x190cm, and two 60x60cm double glazed windows. Sauna benches and an insulated roof element over the sauna room (12mm boards, 50mm ISOVER insulation, 12mm boards) are included. 26mm floor boards and 19mm roof boards; roof covering not included.

The practical case for a two room sauna is that it lowers the effort of using one, and effort is what determines whether a sauna gets used twice a week or twice a month. The documented benefits of regular sauna bathing, better circulation, eased muscle tension and a heart rate response comparable to light exercise, all follow from frequency, and frequency follows from a routine that does not feel like a production.

The taller 240 centimetre walls on this version have a small but real effect on the experience. Heat stratifies, so more height above the upper bench means a wider gradient to sit in, and more room to choose how hard a session feels rather than accepting whatever the ceiling dictates. For households where one person wants serious heat and another wants a gentler twenty minutes, that range is worth having.

Sized for five or six, this is a sauna for shared use rather than solitary routine, and the shared, unhurried version of sauna bathing is the one the Nordic and Baltic traditions have always built around. The wellbeing gains that regular sauna users report are as much about a reliable point of decompression in the week as about the heat, and a cabin with somewhere to sit, change and talk is far more likely to become that.

Single-phase power uses one electrical phase, whereas three-phase power distributes the load across three phases and is better suited to higher-powered equipment.

The correct supply will depend on the specific heater you choose, so the heater's electrical requirements should always be checked before installation.

Sauna heaters will normally need to be hard-wired into a correctly rated dedicated circuit with the appropriate cable, isolation and electrical protection. They should not be connected using a standard household plug or extension lead.

The final electrical connection should be completed by a suitably qualified electrician in accordance with the heater manufacturer's instructions and applicable electrical regulations. This is important for both safety and reliable operation of the heater.

The stove must be positioned according to the manufacturer's required safety distances from timber walls, benches and other combustible materials. Depending on the stove and sauna design, suitable heat shields or other non-combustible protection may also be required.

The floor beneath and immediately around the stove may also require suitable non-combustible protection, particularly where there is a risk of embers or hot material falling from the stove.

A suitable chimney and flue system must be installed to safely carry smoke and combustion gases outside the sauna. Where the flue passes through the roof, the correct insulated chimney components, roof flashing and heat-resistant protection should be used.

Correct ventilation is also important. A wood-fired stove requires an adequate supply of combustion air, while the sauna itself needs sufficient airflow to provide fresh air, circulate heat and allow moisture to escape.

When choosing the position of an outdoor wood-fired sauna, you should also consider where the chimney will discharge in relation to your house, neighbouring properties, windows, boundaries and outdoor seating areas.

Any applicable local requirements should be checked before installation, particularly where chimney positioning, smoke control or other restrictions may apply.

Care for the flat roofed Eero follows the same pattern as any two room spruce cabin, with one thing worth watching that the pitched version does not have. After every session, prop the bronze glass door open for twenty to thirty minutes to let moisture out of the heat room, wipe the benches once they have cooled, and lightly sand the interior once or twice a year where contact is heaviest.

The roof is the point of difference. A 3 degree fall drains, but it drains slowly, so it collects leaves, moss and blown debris far more readily than a pitched roof does. Clearing it a couple of times a year, and always after autumn, is the single most useful maintenance habit on this model; standing water sitting on top of debris is what shortens the life of a flat roof covering, not the pitch itself.

The unheated changing room dries more slowly than the heat room and benefits from being aired rather than shut up, particularly in winter. Externally, treat the 70 millimetre spruce every two to three years, sooner where sun and driving rain hit hardest, and keep the base of the walls clear of leaves and standing water so the lowest log courses stay dry.
This sauna comes with a 5 year warranty for residential use and 2 years for commercial use, covering structural timber, glazing, and hardware. Valid claims are assessed case by case, and we'll supply replacement parts wherever possible rather than the whole sauna.

The same two room plan, with a modern roofline

The flat roofed Eero keeps the deep rectangular plan of the pitched version, 224 by 367 centimetres and 8.2 square metres of floor area in solid 70 millimetre spruce, and changes what happens above the walls. The walls themselves are built taller here at 240 centimetres, and the roof falls at 3 degrees across 14.7 square metres to an overall height of 260 centimetres, which gives a crisp horizontal line instead of a ridge and noticeably more headroom inside than the pitched cabin manages.

The layout is unchanged and it is a good one. An 80 by 201 centimetre outer door opens under the roof overhang into changing and circulation space, and a bronze glass door at 70 by 190 centimetres shuts the heat room off behind it, so the room doing the work is not also the room where people are getting changed. Two 60 by 60 centimetre double glazed windows light the cabin. The sauna room roof is an insulated element, 12 millimetre boards over 50 millimetres of ISOVER over another 12 millimetres of board, and sauna benches and 26 millimetre floor boards come as standard. The 19 millimetre roof boards are supplied; the covering that weatherproofs them is chosen separately.

This is the version to look at if the sauna is going to be seen from a modern house, a rendered extension or contemporary hard landscaping, where a pitched cabin roof can look like it has been borrowed from a different building. The flat profile keeps sightlines low and the outline simple, and the extra 19 centimetres of wall height is the practical bonus that tends to sell it once people have stood inside both. Self assembly uses the same numbered panel system as the rest of the range, and the simpler roof structure is marginally more straightforward to build than a pitched one.
